Our Opening Times

Meet the Team

Meet the Scallywags training and behaviour team . . .

Claire White-French

Since the age of 8, there has been a dog in my life.

Martine a standard poodle bought for me so that I would possibly stop nagging my parents !!!! There have been many since then, more standard poodles,  collies, beardy collie x and then the dogs that I have most affinity with GSD’s.

When as an adult the time became right for me to have my own dog, well it had to be a shepherd, Maddison came into my life and wanting to get it right I looked around for a dog trainer. Scallywags was holding puppy classes in Swanmore just up the road form me, so we enrolled and so it began.

30 years later I’m still here, what a journey. As Maddies training progressed I started taking puppy classes on a weekly basis. Then my family had a take stock moment and decided to buy and run a boarding kennels, trouble was it was in West Yorkshire. So by this time my family consisted of 2 shepherds, 1 beardy x, 6 cats and 8 cockatiels.  Off to Yorkshire we go for 2 amazing years, we had an open license which meant we would often have over 100 dogs staying with us during the summer and 30 cats. There was a resident rottie, Bess,  that was owned by some locals that had rescued her. She was an ex breeding bitch and had very definite opinions on who would be allowed in her kennel!! We became great friends and she spent her last few days inside one of our bungalows. A huge learning curve, great experience, but with some health concerns within the family we came home.

I had been in contact with Sally throughout our time away and she expressed her wish to retire, so as soon as I got back, she started mentoring me. The rest as they say is history, Sally retired and moved to Wales, and I run the business. We had to move to Corhampton as the original land was being sold and built on.  So we now have the most beautiful venue.

There have been so many dogs that have crossed my life, I hope that I have helped them. We train using force free methods, but also fear free, I am passionate about the dogs having agency in their lives, a genuine choice.

The relationship that you will have with any dog should be mutually beneficial with true meaning for both of you.
